To Qualify For Coverage

  1. Agree to a single credit score check at time of application and have a score above 535 (unless your state prohibits credit scoring for insurance purposes)
  2. Pass a Basic Safety check based on FMCSA public data
  3. Agree to ongoing MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) monitoring and meet the following criteria:
    • 5 years with NO Major Violations*
    • 2 yrs CDL driving experience
    • 3 yrs with no more than 2 Traffic Violations (any non-major violation showing on MVR) – or-
    • 3 yrs with no more than 1 DOT reportable Accident (combination of violations/accidents cannot exceed more than 2 events in the last 3 years)
    • 10 yrs with no DUIs for any driver if driver held CDL at the time of DUI (otherwise 5 yrs)
  4. You must become and remain a member in good standing of the Independent Carriers Safety Association (ICSA) Confirmation of a paid annual membership with ICSA will be necessary in order to proceed beyond the price indication stage. Membership in good standing will need to be evidenced in order to proceed with policy application and for policy renewals.

*Major Violations Include:

  • Use of a vehicle for felonious purposes
  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Hit & Run) or Failure to Stop and Report an Accident
  • Reckless driving/Careless driving/Speed contest
  • Driving while license is suspended or revoked
  • Attempting to elude an officer of the law
  • Speeding more than 20 mph over posted limit

Note: for Traffic Violations (non-Major) on MVR that are associated with an accident, we will only count the accident.
